DigiLocker is a cloud-based platform launched by the Indian government under the Digital India initiative in 2015. It provides citizens with a secure and convenient way to store, access, and share important documents digitally, reducing the need for physical copies. Each user gets 1GB of free cloud storage to upload personal documents like Aadhaar cards, PAN cards, and driving licenses. The platform is also integrated with various government agencies, allowing users to fetch official documents directly from sources like transport authorities, educational boards, and insurance companies.

DigiLocker ensures the authenticity of these documents by linking them with Aadhaar-based authentication. Users can share documents securely via URI links, which can be verified online by government agencies, employers, or educational institutions. Additionally, documents can be digitally signed using eSign technology, giving them legal recognition under the Information Technology Act, 2000.
