The Bengaluru Traffic Police (BTP), with approval from the Karnataka government, has introduced a significant initiative to address the city’s longstanding traffic violations. From August 23 to September 12, 2025, motorists can avail a 50% discount on all pending e-challan fines. This move aims to alleviate the financial burden on vehicle owners while promoting adherence to traffic rules.

  • Applicable Fines: Only pending e-challan fines recorded by the police department’s mobile e-challan system

    • Web Portals: Through Karnataka One or Bangalore One websites
    • In-Person: At nearby traffic police stations or the Traffic Management Centre on Infantry Road
  • Eligibility: Open to all vehicle owners with pending e-challan fines

Financial Impact

On the first day of the scheme, approximately 1.5 lakh traffic violation cases were settled, generating over ₹4.2 crore in collections across the city. As of August 28, nearly ₹19 crore had been collected by resolving approximately 6.7 lakh pending cases. The initiative has been well-received by the public, with many taking advantage of the limited-time offer to clear their dues affordably.

  1. Visit the Official Website: Go to https://btp.karnataka.gov.in/en
  2. Access the Payment Portal: Click on “Pay Traffic Fine”
  3. Authenticate: Enter your phone number and the received OTP
  4. Enter Vehicle Details: Input your vehicle registration number to view any pending fines
  5. Select and Pay: Choose the challans you wish to pay and proceed with the payment

The initiative has been well-received by the public, with many taking advantage of the limited-time offer to clear their dues affordably. A Bengaluru tech professional cleared over 130 traffic violations totaling ₹56,500, benefiting from the 50% fine rebate scheme.
